Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using MajorGuide. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using MajorGuide ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. These Terms apply to all visitors, students, school users, and administrators.
If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
MajorGuide is an educational exploration platform designed to help students research college majors, understand career paths, and develop skills. Our features include:
- A searchable database of college majors with salary, job growth, and AI-impact data.
- A major-match quiz to help identify majors aligned with your interests and strengths.
- AI-assisted major guidance and counseling suggestions.
- Typing Pro, a tool to build and measure typing proficiency.
- A counselor dashboard for school administrators to monitor student engagement.
- Major comparison tools and saved lists.
MajorGuide is an educational exploration tool, not a professional academic advising service. Suggestions, AI-generated content, and data are informational only and do not constitute binding academic recommendations. Always consult a qualified academic advisor or counselor for important educational decisions.
3. User Accounts
To access most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
If you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account, you must notify us immediately at legal@majorguide.com. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized access that you failed to report promptly.
4. School Accounts
Schools may subscribe to MajorGuide on behalf of their students. School administrators are responsible for:
- Obtaining any required parental or guardian consent before provisioning student accounts.
- Ensuring their use of student data complies with applicable laws including FERPA and COPPA.
- Managing access rights and deactivating accounts for students who leave the school.
School-linked student data (quiz results, typing stats, engagement) is visible to authorized counselors and administrators within that school's account.
5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
MajorGuide uses artificial intelligence to generate major suggestions, career guidance, and counselor insights. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content is informational only and does not constitute professional academic, career, or legal advice.
- Suggestions are not binding recommendations and may not reflect your individual circumstances, school requirements, or current job market conditions.
- AI outputs may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. You should independently verify important information.
- MajorGuide is not liable for any decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content.
6. Subscription and Billing
Certain features require a paid subscription. By subscribing you agree to pay the applicable fees as described on our pricing page. Key billing terms:
